The Grosvenor Casino Sheffield Knights are delighted to announce the appointment of Joe Wait as assistant coach to the club, to work alongside Ashley Rose and Head Coach David Grant. Joe will be working with both the Knights and Lancers, as well as the Womens team that is currently in the final stages of planning to debut in the 17/18 season.
Joe is excited on the new role, and working to continue the progression that the club has made last season “I’ve finished my second season with the Knights, and feel that I have watched the club progress so much in those two years in terms of the product on the rink, and that really is a credit to Dave and Ash who have worked very hard and done a fantastic job”
When the second assistant coaching position became available, I saw it as an opportunity to contribute what I have learned in the years that I have been playing Ice Hockey, and an opportunity to try and help to continue the progression. I am very excited to start working with Dave and Ash as part of the coaching team, and am very grateful for the opportunity”
Head Coach David Grant is looking forward to working with Joe and is happy with the coaching team for the 17/18 season “With further players coming through the club, and the addition of the Women’s team for the new season, both myself and Ash agreed that we needed an additional person to assist with delivering the program that we are doing at the Knights. When we interviewed Joe, we went through the philosophy and style of hockey that we’re trying to bring into the Knights, and how he could contribute to the delivery of that, and throughout a lengthy period of discussion both myself and Ash were impressed with what Joe has in terms of ideas and suggestions as well as how he can contribute and develop the plans we have.
Joe has already demonstrated his ability to pass on his knowledge to players who have started playing the sport, as well as helping those who are further on with their skillset, I am confident that with the additional responsibility this will have, he will help bring on more players and help the club get stronger”
