Knights and Lancers Hit the Road in League Action

March 25, 2017

On Saturday 25th March, the G Casino Sheffield Knights travel to Nottingham for some hockey action. It is both the Knights and Lancers that are to play, the Knights taking on the Timberwolves and the Lancers facing the Direwolves. As neither team has played a game since the Fantastic Fours tournament back in February, both teams are ready and raring to go.

The last time that the Knights faced off against the Timberwolves was on the 26th November at the English Institute of Sport. This result went the way of the Sheffield team, who took a convincing 6-3 win. Goals were scored on the day by Carl Sutherland, Joe Wait and Andy Stafford, Stafford being awarded the Man of the Match at the end of the game.

The Lancers played the Direwolves directly after the Knights game against the Timberwolves, the game again taking place at the EIS. Unfortunately for the Lancers, the result did not go their way, and at the final whistle the scoreboard showed 6-1 to the Direwolves. The goal for the Lancers was scored by Michael Henderson, the Man of the Match going to net minder Richard Cartwright.

One change within the team since the last league game saw Michael Henderson make the move from the Lancers to the Knights. As the Lancer’s leading goal scorer, the Knights team only look stronger with the addition and everybody in the team believes that Henderson can help out in the goal scoring department, as he did for the Lancers. Despite the loss of Henderson, the Lancers remain strong and look to get a result against the Direwolves as they make the push to stay in Division 2.

Head Coach David Grant is looking forward to seeing how the team react and respond after the tournament in Newcastle “We made some great strides out in Newcastle, and took several positives out of the tournament. I am hopeful that both sides will continue to take the good work from that tournament to the league action. We have a couple of changes within the rosters and I’m looking forward to seeing them in action”
